South Michigan News: Walberg honors Renae Shircliff as December Veteran of the Month

Congressman Tim Walberg recognized Renae Shircliff of Hillsdale as the Veteran of the Month for December. He presented her with a copy of the Congressional Record that included his remarks about her service and dedication to veterans.
Renae Shircliff served as an Army Specialist 4th Class 63 Hotel Tank Mechanic and was a duty driver for her Commanding Officer. She received the Army Achievement Medal for her service in Stuttgart, Germany.
After leaving active duty, Shircliff continued working with veterans by joining the Hillsdale County Veterans Affairs Office in 2013. In 2018, she became Director. Under her leadership, veterans in Hillsdale County received more than $32 million in VA benefits in both 2022 and 2023, and an additional $17 million in 2024. These funds have helped improve care and quality of life for local veterans and their families.
"It is a privilege to recognize Renae Shircliff as the Veteran of the Month for December," said Rep. Walberg. "Renae has exemplified what it means to serve. After defending our freedoms abroad, Renae dedicated her life to advocating on behalf of the veteran community and ensuring our nation's heroes receive the benefits they so rightfully deserve. Her actions and guidance have been instrumental in helping our veterans navigate the process of securing their benefits. Thank you, Renae, for going above and beyond to ensure our veterans are properly supported."
Walberg's office continues to accept nominations for its Veteran of the Month program, which highlights outstanding contributions from military veterans living in Michigan’s 5th Congressional District each month.
