South Michigan News: Tim Walberg promotes 'One Big Beautiful Bill' on Twitter

July 2, 2025

Rep. Tim Walberg, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th District since 2011, has been actively discussing the benefits of the "One Big, Beautiful Bill" through his social media platform. Born in Chicago and currently residing in Tipton, Walberg has a long history of public service, including time in the Michigan House of Representatives.

On July 2, 2025, Rep. Walberg outlined the potential impacts of the proposed bill for Michigan's 5th District. He stated that "For Michigan’s 5th District, the One Big, Beautiful Bill would: Increase take-home pay by up to $11,700 Stop a 27% tax hike Prevent 66,780 families from seeing their Child Tax Credit cut in half Preserve 9,000 manufacturing jobs".

Later that day, he addressed concerns regarding family-owned farms and tax implications. According to Walberg's post on July 2nd at 14:57 UTC, "If the Trump tax cuts were to expire, then 7,891 family-owned farms in Michigan’s 5th District would see their Death Tax Exemption slashed in half next year. The One Big, Beautiful Bill will extend the tax cuts to protect family farmers."

Additionally, Rep. Walberg highlighted border security issues under former President Donald Trump's administration. On July 2nd at 15:44 UTC he noted that "Under President @realDonaldTrump, illegal border crossings have hit a new historic low. Let’s get the One Big, Beautiful Bill past the finish line to provide the resources necessary to ensure our border stays secure for decades."

Tim Walberg graduated from Taylor University with a BA and has been serving his district since replacing Mark Schauer in Congress.
