Bloomberg Law: Bipartisan Bill Advances Urging DOL to Spot Human Trafficking

The US Labor Department would train staff to recognize signs of human trafficking and refer cases to law enforcement, under legislation advancing through the House.
The bill (H.R. 4307) won approval Thursday from the House Education and Workforce Committee. The panel’s chair, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), sponsored the bill, joined by cosponsors Reps. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.) and Donald Norcross (D-N.J.).
The measure calls for the Labor Department to establish an initial training program followed by continuing education on trends in human trafficking and best practices for detecting it, along with procedures for referring cases to the Justice Department ...
