Demanding Transparency with Baby Formula ShortageWhile the formula shortage no longer draws as many headlines, parents are still suffering as the average out-of-stock rates in stores and online last month was 61%. This week, the Energy and Commerce Committee favorably reported my resolution to bring greater oversight and transparency to the ongoing baby formula crisis. This resolution calls for the Biden administration to release documents related to the recall of infant formula and potential impacts on the infant formula supply chain. H.Res.1287 passed the Committee with unanimous support from Republican and Democratic members. I'm urging Speaker Pelosi to now bring this bipartisan resolution to the House floor for a full vote. |
Commitment to AmericaAmerica has felt the impact of single-party Democratic rule of Washington these past two years as we experience crisis after crisis. In stark contrast, congressional Republicans released a Commitment to America this week to get our country back on track. In this plan are solutions for an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a future that is built on freedom, and a government that is accountable. To learn more, please click here. |
Fighting for Border SolutionsContrary to Vice President Harris's claim, our border is not secure. I visited the border this summer and observed this firsthand, but the unprecedented numbers also speak for themselves. Not only will the crisis at the border cost American taxpayers over $20 billion a year, but it has also allowed tens of thousands of pounds of dangerous fentanyl to cross over and devastate our communities. In Wednesday's Energy and Commerce Committee markup, I spoke in support of a resolution demanding the release of documents from the Biden administration on the attempt to revoke Title 42, even while the administration pushed other COVID measures such as masking school children. There must be answers for these inconsistent policies, seemingly driven by political agendas. |
Celebrating Lenawee County's BicentennialIt was a privilege to help commemorate Lenawee County’s bicentennial over the past weekend. A special thank you to Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for all their hard work to organize the ceremony and make the new marker possible. |
Supporting our VeteransIn July, I was proud to support the passage of the Honoring our Pact Act, which has since become law. While veterans can now submit claims, the Veterans Administration (VA) is unable to process the claims until January 2023. This has left veterans vulnerable to scammers promising to expedite their claims. This week, I joined 59 of my colleagues in sending a letter to VA Secretary McDonough regarding the increased fraudulent activity. To learn more about our work ensuring veterans receive the entirety of the benefits they have earned, read more here. As always, my Jackson office is here to help veterans and their families if they need assistance navigating red tape at the VA. |
