Working for You

Working for You
This has been a historic Congress focused on lowering costs for Michigan families, restoring commonsense, and reining in waste, fraud, and abuse.
I've introduced 11 bills that have already passed the House, including legislation that will combat wasteful spending, lower health care costs, protect the Great Lakes, combat human trafficking, and increase transparency regarding foreign influence in our institutions of higher education.
I also worked with local leaders to identify community needs and helped secured over $27 million in federal funding for over a dozen projects in Michigan's 5th District as part of the appropriations process.
I consider it an honor to serve Michigan’s 5th Congressional District and remain committed to continuing to work to deliver results for you and your family.
Please read below for more information on my legislation that has passed the House this Congress.
Combating Wasteful Spending and Lowering Costs for Michigan Families
- Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan – Saves taxpayers over $284 billion while simplifying loan repayment and streamlining student loan options to provide economic mobility for our students and families. No other piece of enacted legislation in recent congressional history has saved as much as the Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan would. This was signed into law by President Trump as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts.
- Association Health Plans Act – Increases health coverage options for job creators, cuts health insurance costs dramatically, and levels the playing field between small and larger businesses. This passed the House as part of the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act.
Protecting Children and Students
- Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act – Restores parental notification and consent, requires clear communication between schools and parents, and prohibits federal funds from being used to promote radical gender ideology or compel ideological beliefs.
- DETERRENT Act – Provides clarity to foreign gift reporting requirements for colleges and universities to bring light to malignant foreign entities lurking in our schools.
- Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA 2.0) – Provides families with the tools necessary to navigate the modern digital landscape by banning targeted advertising and strengthening protections for children and teenagers.
Strengthening Our Grid and Ensuring U.S. Wireless Leadership
- Energy Emergency Leadership Act – Increases coordination within the Department of Energy to strengthen our emergency response capabilities, improve the resiliency of our grid, and ensure Americans have access to reliable, affordable energy.
- Promoting U.S. Wireless Leadership Act – Allows the U.S. to lead in global telecommunication innovation by encouraging the participation of trusted American companies in international standard-setting bodies.
- FUTURE Networks Act – Advances American leadership in wireless technology by promoting the deployment of 6G.
Preserving the Great Lakes and Our Outdoor Heritage
- Great Lakes Mass Marking Program Act – Protects the long-term health of fisheries in the Great Lakes by building on the success of the Great Lakes Mass Marking Program to implement the large-scale marking of fish at all our hatcheries.
- America the Beautiful Motorcycle Fairness Act – Alleviates an unfair financial burden placed on motorcyclists visiting National Parks by requiring the Secretary of the Interior to issue guidance stating that one America the Beautiful Annual Pass will permit the admittance of two motorcycles into National Parks.
Protecting Our Communities
- Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act – Ensures that Department of Labor employees receive the proper training to effectively recognize instances of human trafficking and respond to these heinous crimes.
