Upholding our National Security

This week, I partnered with Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party to call on the leaders of Eastern Michigan University, Oakland University, and the University of Detroit Mercy to end their schools' partnerships with Chinese universities. These partnerships jeopardize the security of the research funded by American taxpayers. A report released last September details how hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. federal research funding over the last decade has contributed to China's technological advancements and military modernization. We must ensure that these collaborations are terminated to further prevent the CCP from exploiting U.S. research capabilities and taxpayer investments.

I was honored to present a Congressional tribute to Ian Verbeke to recognize his achievement of earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Through his service projects, Ian enhanced Albion’s parks and trails by installing two bicycle repair stations in Albion City Parks and completing trail maintenance along sections of the Albion River Trail. His dedication to service exemplifies the leadership and commitment of an Eagle Scout, and his efforts will leave a lasting impact on the community.

Hearing From You

On Thursday, I hosted two community gatherings in Bedford Township and Summit Township to hear about the issues that matter most to my constituents. During the events, we were able to discuss efforts to secure our border, combat the fentanyl crisis, unleash American energy production, and eliminate wasteful spending. Thank you to everyone who participated, and I look forward to hosting more events in the community.

My office is here to assist constituents with issues related to federal agencies. Whether it is help with Social Security benefits, Medicare claims, veterans’ benefits, federal tax returns, passport requests, or other federal matters, our casework team is ready to help cut through red tape.
