Unleashing Energy Production

Unleashing Domestic EnergyI continue to hear from constituents across the district who are struggling with sky-high gas prices. Yet during an Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing this week with oil and gas executives, Democrats tried to shift blame rather than reverse course on their anti-energy agenda. Our nation was energy independent before President Biden took office, and we need to flip the switch on American energy once again. To listen to my remarks during the hearing, click here. |
Moving Past COVID-19 RestrictionsOn Wednesday, I questioned Secretary Becerra when the administration will recognize it is time to pursue policies in a post-COVID mandate world. While much of the country resumed their lives a long time ago, it is a long overdue step the Department of Health and Human Services appears to be catching up to the rest of society. During the hearing, I also highlighted the incredible charity from faith-based organizations and the important role they play in communities across America. It is my sincere hope that Secretary Becerra does not backtrack on his statements before our committee and allow faith-based organizations to operate without overbearing regulations from the federal government. |
Education & Labor MarkupDuring a Tuesday markup at the Education & Labor Committee, I offered an amendment to better streamline a grant program and help provide clarification for where the overly broad language could distribute grant awards if enacted. Congress should spend taxpayer dollars carefully and take the time necessary to properly define grant recipients as to not create waste or increase inefficiency. |
Enforcing Border PolicyOn Wednesday, I asked for Unanimous Consent for the House to consider H.R. 471, the PAUSE Act. The legislation would reverse the Biden Administration's decision to end Title 42 policies and ensure that law enforcement would have the necessary tools to keep Americans safe. Congress did take a positive measure this week by passing the DHS Illicit Cross-Border Tunnel Defense Act, a bipartisan bill that gives Customs and Border Protection additional resources to stop cross-border tunnel crossings. Whether above ground or below, we must secure the border. |
Standing with FarmersThis week, I joined a group of my colleagues in signing a letter calling on President Biden to take all necessary action to lower the cost of fertilizer, including eliminating the cross-border vaccine mandate and using the full regulatory power of the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, and Interior. If action is not taken soon, food prices will surge further and food availability could become a crisis. It is crucial that President Biden take these swift actions to support our farmers, and in turn prevent another looming problem. |
