Visiting Small Businesses with Administrator Loeffler

I recently joined Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler to visit Buell Motorcycles in Michigan to discuss how the One Big, Beautiful Bill will empower businesses like theirs. This historic legislation offers permanent tax relief so we can fuel the growth of American industry. As a lifelong motorcycle rider, I enjoyed hearing more about how this legislation will allow them to invest more in their operations, build even more bikes here in America, and create more jobs.

Supporting our Agricultural Community

I also had the opportunity to stop by some of our local county fairs, including the Berrien County Youth Fair and the Calhoun County Fair, during this August work period to hear more from constituents. I especially enjoyed explaining how the One Big, Beautiful Bill is a major win for our nation's farmers. It strengthens the farm safety net and risk management tools to protect against agricultural losses, and expands agricultural trade and specialty crop programs to help Michigan farmers compete. The landmark legislation also prevents 2 million family-owned farms, including 43,302 farms in Michigan, from facing an increased death tax. Read more about how this legislation will produce real results for Michigan’s agricultural industry in my recent op-ed here.

Empowering Main Street America

I enjoyed stopping by many small businesses across the district to talk about how the One Big, Beautiful Bill will deliver relief. I had the opportunity to visit Larson’s Bar in Monroe to discuss how the One Big, Beautiful Bill’s no tax on tips provision will ensure that their workers keep more of their hard-earned money.  The One Big, Beautiful Bill will save tipped workers nearly $1,500 annually and will provide working Americans with further tax relief by preventing the largest tax hike in history from taking effect. I also stopped by Banas Lumber and Hardware in Monroe. The One Big, Beautiful Bill prevents owners of small businesses like theirs from suffering a tax hike to 43.4% with the small business standard deduction, empowering them to invest more in their businesses and employees.

Welcome Back to School!

It was great to meet with Monroe County Intermediate School District Superintendent Steve McNew and hear about the district’s preparations for the new school year. As Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee, I understand how vital a quality education is to the success of our workforce. I wish all the students who have already gone back to school and those who are heading back this week good luck and hope this school year is a memorable and successful one!

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day to all those in Michigan’s 5th District and across the nation who work hard to keep our country running! I hope that you and your family have a safe and joyful Labor Day weekend.
