Talking Tax Cuts with Vice President Pence
Talking Tax Cuts with Vice President Pence

It was a privilege to join with Vice President Mike Pence at an event in Michigan on Friday to talk about growing jobs, paychecks, and a stronger economy. Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was enacted, the positive benefits have been resonating across the country. As a result of the new tax cut law, the IRS updated its withholding tables in the month of February, and the U.S. Treasury estimates that 90 percent of Americans will see a boost in take-home pay. Lenawee County Senior Fair

My office hosted a Senior Resource Fair this week at the Adrian Senior Center. Thanks to all the community organizations who were on hand and to my constituent relations team who provides assistance with Medicare and Social Security difficulties.
Touring Lowe's and Talking Bonuses

I enjoyed visiting Lowe's in Adrian to meet with employees and talk about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It was great to hear about their bonuses and enhanced benefits as a result of the new tax cut law. Lowe's is one of more than 400 companies who have announced more than $4 billion in bonuses. Click here for a list.
Preventing Opioid Abuse

The Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing on the opioid crisis this week that featured my bipartisan bill to help prevent the diversion or misuse of unused medication. I was glad to have a representative from the Michigan HomeCare & Hospice Association testify in support of the bill. Click here to watch my questions.
Expanding Apprenticeships and Skills Education
The Energy and Commerce Committee also held a hearing this week on ways to modernize our energy infrastructure and improve workforce training and development in the energy sector. I talked about the importance of expanding access to apprenticeships to help meet our workforce needs and increase opportunities for good-paying jobs. Click here to watch my remarks.
