Protecting Kids and Parental Rights

Working alongside Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), we introduced the Parental Rights Over the Education and Care of Their (PROTECT) Kids Act. This important bill would require any federally funded elementary or middle school to seek and acquire parental consent before changing their child’s pronouns, gender markers, or preferred name on any school form. Parents deserve transparency when it comes to information about their children, and I remain committed to ensuring that parents have a seat at the table for every discussion related to their children.

Moving Past the Pandemic

Even President Biden announced the pandemic was over last September, yet the health emergency has not ended and the federal government has not fully resumed normal business.  It is long past time to return power back to the American people. This week, I voted in favor of legislation to roll back overreaching abuses of power by President Biden. I supported the following pieces of legislation:

  • Pandemic is Over Act to end the COVID health emergency
  • SHOW Up Act which would require federal agencies to return to pre-pandemic telework policies
  • Freedom for Health Care Workers Act which would end the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for health care workers
  • H. CON. RES. 9, a resolution denouncing the horrors of socialism, passed 328-86 with 14 members voting present

Expanding Telehealth

On Thursday, I introduced the bipartisan Telehealth Benefit Expansion for Workers Act. This bipartisan bill would expand access to telehealth services by classifying these services as an excepted benefit for employer-sponsored health coverage. Expanding telehealth services will ensure that Americans can receive timely, quality, and affordable care. Last Congress, I worked with Rep. Jackie Walorski on this effort, and I am proud to advance an aspect of her robust legacy on Capitol Hill.

Promoting Energy Solutions and Innovation

On Tuesday, I participated in an Energy and Commerce hearing to discuss how Congress can work to unleash American energy and promote energy security. I was also recently named the Vice Chair of the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee and we held our first hearing to discuss how America can strengthen our competitiveness against China, especially by promoting innovation in emerging technologies.

Hosting the Prayer Breakfast

It was truly an honor to Co-Chair the 71st annual National Prayer Breakfast with Rep. Lucy McBath. The power of prayer brings us together and it was a privilege spearheading an event that allows true faith to unite us through prayer leading to reconciliation with God and each other.
