Opposing Federal Election Takeover

At a time when our country is dealing with rampant inflation and supply chain shortages, Speaker Pelosi has instead decided to amend bipartisan NASA legislation to rush through a 700-plus page bill to federalize elections. Make no mistake: this divisive legislation is a sweeping power grab that will radically change election administration in all 50 states, imposing a one-size-fits-all system from Washington. During consideration, Democrats rejected a resolution aimed at ensuring non-citizens are removed from voter rolls and the rights of American citizens are protected. Read my full statement here.

Reaction to Supreme Court Ruling

On Thursday, the Supreme Court made the right decision to halt President Biden's OSHA vaccine mandate on large workplaces. It clearly was an unconstitutional overreach that threatened the liberty and livelihoods of millions of American workers. While this is encouraging news, the battle is not over. As for the CMS mandate, I have signed onto a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to formally disapprove of and nullify the overly rigid rule imposed on America's health care workers.

Update on the Economy

Inflation has skyrocketed to a four-decade high, and this news comes directly after a December jobs report fell far below expectations. President Biden's incompetent handling of the recovery continues to hurt our economy and leave workers on the sideline. His big-spending policies are making life more expensive and I will continue to oppose these harmful proposals and advocate for solutions that grow jobs and bring costs down.

Pursuing Nursing Home Policy Transparency

According to news sources, an upcoming Auditor General's report will show nearly 30% more COVID deaths tied to long-term care facilities in Michigan. We know Governor Whitmer's nursing home policy was disastrous for our state, but this troubling Auditor General report appears to show a new level of heartbreaking devastation. There must be more transparency in how these misguided policies were decided upon.

Demanding Answers from Biden's Education Secretary

A few months ago, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) released a letter comparing protesting parents to domestic terrorists. This letter was then used by the Biden Administration to suggest using the Patriot Act to crack down on parents, utilizing the FBI. This week, it was reported that Biden's Education Secretary Miguel Cardona solicited this NSBA letter. As a member of the Education and Labor Committee, I find these reports incredibly disturbing and have many questions related to Secretary Cardona's role. He needs to answer them before Congress.

ICYMI: 2021 Year in Review

In case you missed my recent year-end video recap, sadly, 2021 was not the bounce-back year that many of us had hoped for. Yet, despite many challenges at home and abroad, the American ideal has not changed.

America will remain a resilient and exceptional nation. As we now have entered 2022, I hope you'll take a moment to watch this brief video message if you previously missed it.
