More jobs. Fairer taxes. Bigger paychecks.
Fair and Simple Tax Reform

The tax code is an unfair and complex mess that hasn't been overhauled in 31 years. This week, we released a framework that begins the process of simplifying the tax code and allowing hard-working, middle class families in Michigan to keep more of what they earn. These reforms will increase take-home pay, boost job creation, and enable a more competitive and healthy economy. Click here to learn more.
Helping our Veterans
Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and I recently co-hosted a Veterans Resource Fair at VFW Post 423, and then we participated in a town hall conversation on veterans health care at Washtenaw Community College. Thanks to the many veterans organizations who helped make both events such a success.
Reducing Medicaid Fraud

We should always be looking for ways to strengthen the integrity of the Medicaid program, protect the vulnerable who need these services, and prevent tax dollars from being wasted. This week, I introduced a bipartisan bill with Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT) to better identify Medicaid fraud and protect those who are served by the program. Combating Drug Abuse

The opioid crisis is tearing apart families in Michigan, and preventing drug use early on will help young people make healthy choices and lead to safer communities. I was pleased to announce that four organizations in the 7th District have been awarded Drug-Free Communities grants: SRSLY Chelsea, SRSLY Dexter, the Jackson County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, and the Monroe County Substance Abuse Coalition. These grants will allow their good work to continue and spread to other communities in need.
Welcome back, Steve
It was incredibly moving to welcome my friend and colleague Congressman Steve Scalise back to work this week. His strength and perseverance is an inspiration to us all. I was also grateful to visit with my former staff member, Matt Mika, who is also recovering from the shooting at the congressional baseball practice.
