In the wake of the attempted assassination against President Trump, I supported the creation of a House task force with subpoena power to get to the bottom of these security failures. Former Director of the Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Monday and failed to answer basic questions regarding the unfathomable failures that allowed for the tragic event. The next day, she resigned. We need to get full answers as to why and how this could happen so it will never happen again. We need accountability.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, since the Biden-Harris administration took office, there have been over 9.9 million illegal border crossings. For reference, Michigan's population is 10.03 million. The Border Czar, Kamala Harris, has failed in her duty to secure the border. This week, with bipartisan support, the House passed a resolution condemning Vice President Harris for her failure to handle the border crisis

I had the immense pleasure of coming together with the people of Tecumseh to celebrate the founding of their city 200 years ago. While the city began as a modest communal cabin beside the river, the values and spirit of Tecumseh’s founders allowed for the community to flourish. Over the years, Tecumseh has become home to many manufacturing enterprises and educational institutions. I would like to congratulate all residents, businesspeople, and leaders on this exciting milestone and express my well wishes for the future of Tecumseh!

I recently had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley to discuss the vital work our law enforcement officers do to vigilantly defend our communities. To assist with their needs, I secured community project funding for the Calhoun County jail to ensure effective and efficient operations and improved safety features. I will always support our nation’s brave law enforcement officers and ensure that they have the proper resources they need to continue to keep our communities safe.

On Wednesday, I was proud to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech. The United States is a long-time ally of Israel and must always stand with Israel as it continues to defend itself.

Sadly, nearly simultaneously, a riot occurred at Union Station, where police officers were assaulted, the American flag was burned, and monuments were defaced with pro-terrorist slogans. We cannot normalize this behavior. Lawbreakers must not only be arrested but prosecuted for crimes committed.
