Improving Retirement Security

Improving Retirement SecurityOn Tuesday, I spoke in support of the Securing a Strong Retirement Act, which was passed by the House this week. The bipartisan legislation includes a provision that I have long championed. This provision will ease the financial burden that many employers, especially small business owners, struggle to afford in regard to the employer sponsored retirement plans for employees. This legislation will greatly enhance the opportunities for Americans to save for their retirement and help them achieve their retirement goals. To watch my full speech, please click here. |
Biden's Budget and InflationPresident Biden released his budget proposal this week which again showed his commitment to massive spending, which has helped cause the inflation crisis. It was recently estimated that the average American household will be forced to spend an additional $5,200, due to the inflation tax. This extra financial cost is devastating for the hard-working American families. Rather than continuing the reckless spending, we must focus on policies which put an end to this inflationary crisis and allow our economy to flourish. |
Enhancing Telehealth BenefitsThis week, I introduced bipartisan legislation, along with Reps. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Suzan DelBene (D-WA), and Angie Craig (D-MN), to expand American workers’ access to telehealth services provided by their employers. The Telehealth Benefit Expansion for Workers Act of 2022 would grant employers the ability to offer a separate telehealth service program, as well as traditional health care plans. This new program would be extended to all employees, including seasonal and part-time workers. As demonstrated by the pandemic, telehealth services are crucial for providing Americans with timely care from their home. This is especially true for those living in rural communities with longer commutes to health care facilities. |
Closing the Digital DivideIn order to connect Michiganders and close the digital divide, we need a robust spectrum plan. At an Communications and Technology subcommittee oversight hearing, I questioned FCC Chair Rosenworcel on how the Commission plans to get essential spectrum into the marketplace. I also asked how the FCC is combatting waste, fraud, and abuse in some of the COVID-related broadband programs. We need to ensure that taxpayer dollars are not being wasted with duplicative spending. |
Commemorating Vietnam War Veterans DayOn Tuesday, we paid tribute and gave thanks to the many brave Americans who served during the Vietnam War. The United States is forever indebted to them for their incredible sacrifice. It is through their courage and strength, as well as that of other veterans, that the United States continues to endure. |
