Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with gratitude, joy, and precious time with loved ones. This week, we not only give thanks for the many blessings in our lives, but also the freedoms we all share as Americans.

Over the years, our world-class fisheries and the long-term health of the Great Lakes have faced many challenges, including the presence of invasive mussels that cause significant ecological and economic damage. I am proud to partner with Congresswoman Dingell on the bipartisan Save Great Lakes Fish Act to direct federal agencies to work with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission and tribal, state, and local governments on a coordinated effort to combat invasive mussel species. The Great Lakes are a national treasure, and we must continue to be good stewards of their waters and wildlife to ensure future generations can experience the same joy of their shores as we do today.

On Tuesday, I introduced the landmark Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA 2.0) with Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL). This legislation would build on the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the only online privacy law for children, to protect children and teenagers from the privacy and safety risks they face online. By prohibiting internet companies from collecting the personal information of teenagers without their consent, banning targeted advertising, and establishing data minimization rules, we can provide our nation’s youth and their parents with the protections necessary to navigate the digital age.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Alro Plastics in Jackson to tour their site and learn more about their manufacturing operations. To empower small businesses like theirs, I voted for the historic Working Families Tax Cuts legislation that also provides a permanent small business tax deduction to allow for business expansion and create more good-paying jobs. This provision is expected to create 1 million new jobs and generate $75 billion in annual economic growth. I'll continue to support efforts to reverse the decades-long trend of shipping operations overseas and bring back Made-in-America manufacturing.
