Happy Thanksgiving

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. While this year has had its tumultuous moments, we have so much to be thankful for. May this Thanksgiving serve as a special opportunity to spend time with loved ones and reflect on the many blessings we have as Americans.

Combating Anti-Semitism

In the wake of the attacks by Hamas, there has been a surge in anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence across the nation, including on college campuses. I recently joined Neil Cavuto on Fox News to discuss the letter I sent to Secretary Cardona asking the Department of Education to immediately engage with these universities on their obligations to take swift action in response to hostile actions toward Jewish students. Nearly a month later, and after numerous instances of harassment, Secretary Cardona has finally started to remind universities of their obligation to protect these students by threatening to cut federal funding. Anti-Semitism has no place on college campuses, and I will continue to work to keep Jewish students safe.

Standing with Israel

Last week, I joined nearly 300,000 people, including colleagues from both sides of the aisle, at the March for Israel on the National Mall. Hamas continues to commit unspeakable acts of violence against Israel, and the United States must continue to provide Israel with the support they need to defend themselves. The March for Israel sent a clear message that the United States stands firmly united behind Israel and will always condemn terrorism and anti-Semitism.

Supporting Law Enforcement

I had the opportunity to sit down with Three Rivers Department Chief of Police Boling and Fire Chief Schoon to discuss the challenges facing the force, the ongoing illicit drug crisis, and mental health. It is always a privilege to meet with our members of law enforcement who vigilantly defend our communities. I will always support our nation’s brave law enforcement officers and ensure that they have the proper resources they need to continue to keep our communities safe.

Meeting With Buchanan Officials

Recently, I had the pleasure to meet with local leadership in Buchanan to discuss their priorities. Buchanan has earned many accolades, including the “Nicest Place in America” according to the 2020 edition of Reader's Digest.

Discussing Economic Development in Jackson

On Monday, I met with Ryan Tarrant, who recently took over leading the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Experience Jackson. We had a great discussion on legislative and regulatory policy to allow small businesses to grow and develop in our community. I look forward to continued work with Ryan as we work to bring good-paying jobs to southern Michigan.
