Entering a New Golden Age
The State of Our Union
On Tuesday night, President Trump outlined his bold and positive vision for America. Over the first 6 weeks of his second term, the Trump administration has been working quickly to put Americans first and deliver common sense solutions to undo the failed policies of the Biden-Harris administration. We must continue to address Washington's spending problem, secure our border, lower energy costs, and restore the United States' standing on the world stage. I look forward to continuing my work with the Trump administration in my role as Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee to address America's education crisis, reinvigorate American workers, and strengthen our economy. America is back, and we are ushering in the New Golden Age of America!

Ensuring American Wireless LeadershipOur economic security and national security depend on the United States remaining the leader in wireless technology. This week, I partnered with colleagues in introducing the Promoting United States Wireless Leadership Act to promote American competitiveness and prepare us for the deployment of next-generation wireless communications technology. The legislation would establish clear rules of the road for the development of wireless networks to ensure that standards are made with America's economic and security interests in mind.

Protecting Fisheries in the Great LakesAs Michiganders, we know the long-term health of our fisheries is critical to our fishing industry, economy, and way of life. I joined Representatives Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Bill Huizenga (R-MI) in introducing legislation to promote large-scale fish marking. The Great Lakes Mass Marking Program Act would establish a program within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to work with state and tribal governments to promote mass marking of fish at hatcheries in the Great Lakes. By doing so, we can better track migratory patterns and population changes and get a full data picture of the health of our fisheries to better protect wildlife.

Combatting AntisemitismAs Chairman of the Education and Workforce Committee, I have been committed to combatting the pervasive antisemitism occurring on college campuses across the country. This week, I was proud to have Eden Yadegar, a Jewish student from Columbia who has been bravely standing up against the antisemitic hatred she and her classmates have been facing. On his first day in office, President Trump signed an executive order to combat antisemitism, and since then, the Department of Justice has established a joint task force that will be visiting university campuses to investigate the antisemitic incidents they have experienced since 2023. You may read more about efforts of our Committee and the Trump administration in my recent op-ed in the Washington Reporter.

Supporting our YouthThis week, I also had the opportunity to meet with the Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee and Southwest Michigan. The Boys and Girls Club is dedicated to helping our children by providing them with academic support, leadership skills, and development opportunities. Thank you for all that you do to serve our community! |
