Unleashing American Energy

Since President Biden took office, he has waged an unprecedented war on American energy, and the results have been devastating for American families. Americans and paying more for their energy bills and gas prices are higher than when Biden took office, reaching a national average of $3.49 per gallon, the highest level since October 2023. To push back against these devastating policies, the House passed multiple bills this week to lower energy costs and increase domestic production.

  • H. Res. 987 - Denouncing the harmful, anti-American energy policies of the Biden administration
  • H.R. 1121 - Protecting American Energy Production Act
  • H.R. 6009 - the Restoring American Energy Dominance Act
  • H.R. 7023 - Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act
  • H. Con. Res. 86 - Expressing the sense of Congress that a carbon tax would be detrimental to the United States economy

Fighting the EV Mandate

On Wednesday, President Biden’s EPA finalized a rule that is devastating for Michigan, the auto industry, and American families. The rule would require more than half of new vehicles sold to be electric within eight years. This rule restricts the choices of American consumers and will price millions out of the market, eliminate American jobs, and forever link our auto industry with the Chinese Communist Party. In December 2023, the House passed my Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, which would prohibit the Biden administration from implementing these aggressive emission standards that limit consumer choice.

Hearing From You

This week, I hosted community gatherings in Niles and Hanover Township. We discussed many of the issues facing our country, including the inflation that continues to crush families and small businesses, as well as my work in Congress to secure the southern border. As always, thank you to those who were able to make it and participated in our conversation.

Protecting Americans' Data from Adversaries

This week, the House passed bipartisan legislation I helped advance through the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. H.R. 7520, Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Adversaries Act, strengthens data protections and helps safeguard American’s personal information from our foreign adversaries. Data brokers collect sensitive data and sell it, often without regard for who is purchasing the information, including our foreign adversaries. I spoke on the House floor in support of the bill, which passed unanimously.

Defending Constitutional Rights

On Thursday, the House Committee on Education and Workforce marked up four bills that help students and workers succeed. One bill advanced, H.R. 7683, Respecting the First Amendment on Campus Act, included language I authored to protect religious groups' right to assemble on college campuses. My language ensures equal treatment with non-religious groups. We also advanced legislation that would overturn Biden’s harmful Joint Employer rule, which stifles worker opportunity and undercuts millions of American workers.
