Whether it's in the grocery store or out on farms, I continue to hear from families and seniors across Michigan’s 5th District who are struggling to keep up with the increased costs of everyday goods, like food and gasoline. Many are feeling the economic pinch caused by the inflationary policies of the Biden-Harris administration. Please know that I will continue to work with my colleagues to reverse the failed Biden-Harris agenda and support real solutions that will provide relief for families across Michigan.
I recently had the honor of speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for Andy’s Place II, a permanent housing center for families in recovery. We've seen the positive impact of Andy's Place and the ability to support those in recovery, so I was proud to have helped secure federal funding for this critical project, which will help those in need in our community. Please know I remain committed to fighting this epidemic that is sweeping the nation and supporting those struggling with addiction.
It was great to visit the Battle Creek VA Medical Center to recognize and celebrate the hospital’s 100th anniversary of providing care to veterans. Currently, the center serves nearly 45,000 veterans across southern Michigan. We owe a debt of gratitude to our nation’s veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country, and you can be sure I will continue to work with my colleagues to honor our commitment to our veterans by ensuring they have access to care.
In the wake of the first assassination attempt against President Trump, I voted in favor of establishing the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump to investigate the unfathomable lapses in security. 100 days after the attempted assassination took place, the task force released its first report detailing the failures that took place prior to and during the July 13th rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Demanding Answers on Possible CCP Spying in Michigan
Earlier this month, five Chinese nationals were arrested for trespassing at the Camp Grayling training facility during a training exercise. In response, I joined my fellow Michigan Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Department of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin demanding answers regarding this and other similar breaches of security. We must ensure accountability from the Department of Defense and prevent any other incidents that could undermine our national security. You may read the full letter here.
