Demanding Action on Gas Prices

Demanding Action on Gas PricesFor the first time in history, the national average is pushing $5/gallon. As we all know, it's even higher in Michigan. The situation is dire and unaffordable. Michigan families are struggling to pay these historic prices at the pump and we've all been forced to change our habits. However, this week, Speaker Pelosi did not bring a single piece of legislation to address gas prices. I took to the House floor to highlight legislative solutions, and demand a vote on bills that would provide relief. To listen to my speech on a pathway forward, please click here. |
Investment in Monroe CountyRecently, Ford announced plans to build a new packaging facility in Monroe, which represents an investment of $35 million that will create more than 600 jobs. I am thrilled that Ford has chosen Monroe as the location for its new packaging facility. This is a significant investment that will create hundreds of good-paying jobs and spur greater economic growth in the community. Ford’s commitment to expanding its manufacturing presence in Michigan is no doubt a testament to the high-quality workers that call our state home. |
Inflation Continues to SoarOnce again, inflation has reached a 40-year high—spiking to 8.6% in May. American families continue to struggle under President Biden’s reckless policies that are making daily life unaffordable. We need to stop the reckless federal spending, which is why I have cosponsored the Inflation Prevention Act to block legislation deemed by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) that would create significant increases in inflation. |
Defending the Second AmendmentThere are steps we can take to prevent tragedies from occurring without infringing upon the rights of law-abiding citizens. I will not support legislation taking away the Second Amendment rights of my constituents. Instead, we must come together to focus on the root causes of violent crimes and the many cultural issues plaguing our society. As a nation, we face a severe mental health crisis, the breakdown of families, and the glorification of violence that permeates our culture at every level. It must be all hands-on deck—in our homes, in our schools, in our churches—to address these issues and keep our kids and communities safe. |
Addressing Potential BlackoutsThis week, I joined my Republican colleagues on the Energy & Commerce Committee to press Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on the Biden Administration’s plans to prevent rolling energy blackouts this summer. As you may know, reports indicate Michigan and other states may experience dangerous blackouts and we must turn from the Green New Deal agenda back toward affordable, reliable energy. Remembering D-DayOn June 6, 1944, the Allied forces landed on the beaches of Normandy and altered history forever. 78 years later, we remain incredibly grateful for the Greatest Generation’s heroism and sacrifice. |
