Delivering Results
Working for YouOver the past year, we've hosted community gatherings in all ten counties of Michigan's 5th District and heard your concerns. I’ve proudly led the effort to pass bills this year to strengthen parental rights, protect essential energy infrastructure, block Biden's EV mandate, and increase health coverage options for small businesses and their employees. I have also introduced many other bills that have been advanced by their respective committee, and I look forward to seeing many of these important efforts pass the House next year. Keep reading to learn more about my legislation that has passed the House during the 118th Congress. |
PROTECT Kids ActThe Parental Rights Over the Education and Care of Their (PROTECT) Kids Act was included in the Parents Bill of Rights that passed the House in March. The legislation would require elementary and middle schools to obtain parental consent before changing a minor child's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form or sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms. This commonsense legislation will ensure that parents always have a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s upbringing. |
CARS ActIn April, the EPA announced aggressive emissions standards that would force over two-thirds of all new vehicles to be electric. The Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act would ensure the accessibility of affordable and reliable vehicles by preventing the EPA from implementing this electric vehicle mandate and any future vehicle emissions regulations that would mandate certain technologies or limit the availability of vehicles based upon engine type. My CARS Act blocks Biden's de facto EV mandate. The CARS Act was passed earlier this month with bipartisan support and will uphold consumer choice by allowing families to purchase the vehicle that works best for them and their lifestyle. |
PIPES ActThe Protecting International Pipelines for Energy Security (PIPES) Act passed the House in March as part of the Lower Energy Costs Act. This provision would prevent the President from unilaterally shutting down existing safe and essential energy pipelines such as Line 5 in Michigan, without Congressional approval. The PIPES Act will protect our energy security by prohibiting sole executive authority from revoking permits pertaining to construction and operation of cross-border energy infrastructure facilities. |
Association Health Plans ActThe Association Health Plans Act would expand health care options by allowing small businesses and their employees to band together to leverage greater bargaining power to offer health care coverage options at lower costs. Association health plans are a commonsense solution that empower small employers and their employees when making health coverage decisions. This legislation passed the House as part of the CHOICE Arrangements Act in June. |
