Commemorating 250 Years

Commemorating 250 Years
This Independence Day marks a historic milestone, 250 years since the founding of the United States. As we approach our nation's 250th anniversary, it is important to reflect on the storied heritage and ideals our country was founded on. If you would like to request a commemorative letter in recognition of this historic moment, please do so through my website here. It is an honor to serve you and join you in celebrating the Semiquincentennial.
Honoring a Grass Lake Veteran
Our nation's veterans have fought bravely to protect our country and preserve our values. On Tuesday, I was honored to recognize James Ducey of Grass Lake as the Veteran of the Month for June. James served in the U.S. Air Force as a member of the 341st Civil Engineering Squadron until 1970, reaching the rank of Sergeant E-4, and earning both the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. Following active duty, James continued serving his community, joining the Grass Lake American Legion Post 252, where he was appointed Adjutant in 2018, leading many post activities, including the annual Memorial Day celebration for several years. James' dedication to our country has never wavered, and I commend him for his enduring service to our great nation. If you would like to nominate an outstanding veteran for this honor, then please visit my website.
Visiting Jackson
I had a great time recently stopping by the Jackson Rotary Club and learning about more of their projects and initiatives to support our community. During the visit, I had the opportunity to give an update on my recent legislative efforts aimed at ensuring housing is affordable for Michigan families. The House recently passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, bipartisan legislation aimed at keeping the American Dream of homeownership attainable for young families by reducing restrictive regulations and increasing housing supply. Thank you to the Jackson Rotary Club for letting me stop by and share an update on my efforts to make life affordable for Michiganders!
Thanking Our Law Enforcement Officers
This past weekend, the Federal Bureau of Investigation disrupted a terror plot involving explosive drones and snipers against the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. We are extremely grateful to the brave men and women of the FBI and their law enforcement partners for thwarting this attack and protecting the lives of innocent civilians, service members, and elected officials. Since then, the Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that the alleged ringleader of this terror plot was an illegal immigrant who overstayed a visitor visa. Not too long ago, Democrats voted repeatedly to shut down the Department of Homeland Security, jeopardizing their efforts to carry out critical enforcement operations and keep our communities safe. The Department has now been fully funded, ensuring that its personnel have the support necessary to uphold our nation's laws and protect Americans.
