I introduced the Proper Leadership to Align Networks (PLAN) for Broadband Act with Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA). This bipartisan legislation would establish a national strategy to close the digital divide. The PLAN for Broadband Act would increase coordination among all relevant agencies to prevent wasteful and duplicative efforts for broadband deployment. Efficiency is key to ensuring that no American is left behind in today’s digital age.

I partnered with members of the Michigan Republican Delegation to send a letter to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, calling for him to reverse his unilateral decision to suspend construction of the Brandon Road Interbasin Project administered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project would help protect the Great Lakes from invasive species like Asian Carp by constructing a lock and dam that would prevent their upstream movement. Illinois must let construction proceed so that we can protect the Great Lakes’ $7 billion fishing industry and ensure that future generations can enjoy their many recreational opportunities.

I had the opportunity to tour Manchester Industries in Mendon and discuss the importance of a competitive tax code, as well as the essential role manufacturing plays in economic growth and stability. It is imperative that Congress takes action before the expiration of pro-manufacturing tax policies later this year. By extending these policies, we can create $284 billion of new economic growth from American manufacturers. We must defend our manufacturing sector.

During this spring break season, I've had the opportunity to meet many constituents who stopped by my office before touring the U.S. Capitol Building. My staff and I can assist with reserving tours at a number of popular attractions in Washington, D.C., including tours of the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the FBI Experience. Please be sure to give my staff ample time to work on your request as most of the attractions operate under a first-come, first-serve approval process.
