Advocating for Paul Whelan

We learned this week of a prisoner swap with Russia exchanging notorious arms dealer Viktor Bout for basketball star Britney Griner. While we are happy to have Britney come home, Paul Whelan’s parents will soon have their fourth Christmas without their son who has been wrongfully detained in Russia since 2018. Since his wrongful imprisonment, I have worked with colleagues to introduce and pass numerous resolutions, held press conferences, taken to the House floor countless times and this latest disappointment is simply devastating. Once again, I took to the House floor not to celebrate Paul’s release, but to demand his return home. Click here to see this speech.

Supporting our Troops

Inflation & the Holiday Season

At a 40-year high, inflation is looming over the holiday season once again. Families have been tapping into their savings, opting for extended payment plans, and going further in debt to afford this holiday season. Credit card balances have increased by 15% this past year, the highest increase in two decades according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. We need to stop the reckless spending and bring costs down.

Commemorating the Anniversary of Pearl Harbor

December 7, 1941, is a day we will never forget. On the 81st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, we paused to honor the brave heroes who gave their lives in service to our country. Recently, I paid tribute to local Pearl Harbor survivor, Herb Elfring, a WWII veteran who represents the very best of America
