Conservative Climate Caucus

I currently serve as a Vice Chair of the House Conservative Climate Caucus, where we help educate Members and the public on climate policies consistent with conservative values, allowing us to foster a clean and healthy environment for future generations. 

As a member of the Caucus, we promote private sector innovation, American resources, and R&D investment as the best solutions to meet our climate goals, ensure affordable energy, and place the United States as the global leader in clean energy technologies.

Through an all-of-the-above approach, we can ensure we have the solutions necessary to reduce emissions while simultaneously allowing American innovation to lead the way.

Below are free market approaches that we can utilize to ensure Americans have access to reliable and affordable energy while also fostering responsible stewardship. 

Promoting American Energy Leadership

The United States has the resources, technology, and workforce to lead the world in energy production. Rather than restricting American production, we should be encouraging it, both to strengthen our domestic economy and to reduce reliance on adversarial nations, such as Russia or China. 

American energy is produced under the highest environmental standards in the world. When we curb U.S. production, we simply shift demand to less responsible producers overseas. Unleashing energy production and exporting LNG to our allies is key to lowering costs, strengthening our geopolitical power, and lowering emissions worldwide.

Regulatory and Permitting Reform

Overly complex permitting systems delay infrastructure, production, and even clean-energy projects. Congress must focus on modernizing permitting by streamlining reviews, reducing duplicative processes, and giving producers certainty. When we shorten permitting timelines, we accelerate innovation across all energy sources. As a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, I supported and helped pass the SPEED Act and PERMIT Act to streamline the permitting process.

Innovation and Technology

The private sector, not government mandates, has driven most of America’s emissions reductions over the last two decades. Continued innovation in advanced fuels, carbon capture, cleaner refining, and efficient power generation should remain a priority, rather than top-down mandates that stifle innovation and hurt consumers. By ensuring a clear and predictable regulatory environment, we can support technological advancements and further reduce emissions.
