Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the VA Accountability Act of 2015, which gives the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) secretary increased authority to hold poor performing officials accountable, provides improved whistleblower protections, and reforms performance measures for senior executives. Last year, the House passed the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 after reports of the sickening mistreatment of veterans came to light.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Regulations from the Executive in Needs of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which would give Congress an up or down vote on any major new executive branch rule or regulation. Major regulations are those that produce an annual economic impact of $100 million or more, spur major increases in costs for consumers, or have other significant adverse effects on jobs and the economy.

Since vocational education training has been just about eliminated in all but two Monroe County high schools, students who want to learn about the trades will have an option this fall.

The 2-year-old, state-of-the-art Career Technology Center on the Monroe County Community College campus will be open for high school students. Business leaders and educators said training students for jobs waiting to be filled — even at the high school level — is vital.

WILLIS — Two legislators hope to rally support to protect the Great Lakes and other waterways.

On Tuesday, U. S. Reps. Tim Walberg, R- Tipton, and Candice Miller, R-Harrison Township, announced the Great Lakes Assurance Program Verification Act at Darling Farms.

The legislation, created by Rep. Miller, builds off the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP). It encourages states throughout the Great Lakes Basin to develop voluntary agricultural assurance programs to promote conservation and minimize agricultural pollution risks.

They were joined by officials from the Michigan Farm Bureau, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at a press conference in Monroe County to announce the bill's introduction.

A veterans fair in Washtenaw County today offered one-stop shopping for employment, counseling, health, and other services. About 20 groups participated in the event at Scio Township Hall. Michigan U.S. Reps. Tim Walberg and Debbie Dingell hosted the event.

Organizations on hand to offer help included the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, the VFW Department of Michigan Service Office, the Washtenaw County Department of Veterans Affairs, Buddy-to-Buddy Volunteer Veteran Program, Michigan Operation Freedom Outdoors, and many more.
