Rep. Gabrielle Giffords formally resigned from Congress this morning, just over a year after she was shot during a constituent event in Tucson, Arizona. Six people were killed and 13, including Giffords were injured.

U.S. Representative Tim Walberg voted in support of H.R. 3582, the Pro-Growth Budgeting Act and H.R. 3578, the Baseline Reform Act. Both of these bills passed with bipartisan support and are part of a larger package of budget process reforms under consideration by the House to help gain control over and bring more accountability to federal spending.

Today, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform passed H.R. 3813, the Securing Annuities for Federal Employees Act. H.R. 3813 would require federal employees contribute more towards their pension plans, bringing their pensions and total compensation more in line with the private sector.

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-7) introduced a critical piece of legislation that would prevent the implementation of a costly new federal mandate on homeowners. The bill, HR 700, is entitled the Floodplain Maps Moratorium Act, and it is being introduced in response to local concerns about the burdensome mandate voiced by many constituents in the Seventh District.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an amendment offered by Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-7) that will save the taxpayer over $20 million this year. The amendment was added to H.R. 1, the FY2011 Continuing Resolution, which funds the government for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
