A bill introduced in the House of Representatives could have widespread benefits to parents saving for a child's education.
The Helping Families Save for Education Act, introduced by Representatives Tim Walberg (R–MI) and Dan Kildee (D–MI) would expand the usefulness of Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).
Washington, D.C. – Today Rep Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 2216, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. H.R. 2216 will provide the nation's military with the funding they need to maintain military infrastructure while continuing to fund veterans' benefits and programs. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 421-4.
It's been more than three years since President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law, and it's becoming obvious that it will neither protect patients, nor make their health care more affordable, but instead will cause millions of Americans to lose access to their current health care, lead to higher premium rates and hurt job creation.

Rep Walberg released the following statement:
The bill proposed by U.S. Reps. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, and Dan Kildee, D-Flint Township, would increase from $2,000 to $10,000 a year the amount families can invest in Coverdell Savings Accounts for higher education.
The legislation would also increase the age of eligibility to withdraw amounts from the accounts from 18 to 22.
