Walberg Votes to Help Small Business Grow & Create Jobs

June 12, 2014

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 4457, America's Small Business Tax Relief Act. H.R. 4457 will help small businesses improve their cash flow, lower costs, and grow their companies by making expensing levels outlined in section 179 of the tax code permanent. The bipartisan legislation passed by a vote of 272 – 144.

"Michigan small business owners have stressed to me the continued uncertainty they face as they look to reinvest in their companies and hire new workers. By making Section 179 small business expensing rules a permanent part of the tax code, it will make it easier for them to budget and plan for the future, allowing them to grow and create jobs now," said Rep. Walberg following the vote.

Section 179 allows small business owners to immediately deduct the cost of investments in property, equipment, and computer software rather than depreciating such costs over time.
