Walberg Votes to Bring Tax Certainty, Promote Charitable Giving

February 13, 2015
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted for legislation to bring more certainty to the tax code by making a number of tax provisions permanent. H.R. 644, the Fighting Hunger Incentive Act, includes several provisions to promote charitable giving, including making permanent the tax deduction for contributions of food inventory by any type of business. H.R. 636, America's Small Business Tax Relief Act, makes permanent a provision in the tax code that allows small businesses to expense up to $500,000 of new equipment purchases per year.

"The House took important action this week to simplify the tax code, deliver permanent tax relief for farmers and small employers, and encourage charitable contributions. Providing much-needed tax certainty will help small businesses create jobs, grow their company, and plan for the future. Ultimately, we need to reform the entire tax code, but these are sensible first steps which will begin to foster healthy economic growth and also give back to our neighbors in need," said Walberg.

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee as Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
