Working for You
Ushering in America's New Golden Age
The failed policies of the Biden-Harris administration have taken our country and the world in the wrong direction. Inflation, gas prices, and illegal border crossings reached record highs, overdose deaths skyrocketed, crime ran rampant, and America’s standing on the world stage was shaken, leading to adversaries capitalizing on an opportunity to destabilize geopolitics.
President Trump and Republicans in Congress have been working quickly to restore common sense and put America back on track toward achieving a more prosperous future. Below are legislation I have authored or supported in Congress to alleviate the many Biden-Harris self-inflicted crises plaguing everyday Americans.
Building an Economy That’s Strong
- Passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on our nation’s 249th birthday. The legislation prevents the largest tax hike in history, unleashes domestic energy production, and empowers hardworking Americans and small businesses. The legislation is estimated to save $1.5 trillion in mandatory spending.
- Sponsored the PIPES Act, preventing the President from unilaterally shutting down safe, essential, and existing energy pipelines or electric transmission facilities without Congressional approval.
- Sponsored the CARS Act, prohibiting the Biden administration from implementing aggressive emission standards for light and medium-duty vehicles that limit consumer choice. Biden's EPA mandate would require over two-thirds of all new vehicles to be electric by 2032.
- Passed the Protecting American Energy Production Act, preventing any President from declaring a moratorium on fracking unless authorized to do so by law.
- Passed H.J.Res. 87, H.J.Res. 88, and H.J.Res. 89, which were signed into law and repealed California’s waivers that allowed the state to implement a de facto electric vehicle mandate.
- Passed S.J.Res 11, which was signed into law and reverses a Biden-Harris administration regulation that requires offshore energy producers to create intensive archeological reports for all oil and gas exploration and development.
- Passed H.J.Res. 42, which was signed into law and reverses a Biden-era regulation that requires certain consumer products and commercial equipment to meet energy conservation standards. This burdensome regulation would increase costs for Americans, particularly seniors and low-income households.
- Passed H.J.Res. 61, which was signed into law and reverses a regulation that places excessive emissions standards on rubber tire manufacturers.
Making a Nation That’s Safe
- Passed the Laken Riley Act, the first piece of legislation signed into law by President Trump during his second term. This legislation was named after a nursing student in Georgia who was killed by an illegal immigrant who was previously arrested for theft but was released and ICE did not issue a detainer. The Laken Riley Act protects American communities from criminal illegal aliens by requiring ICE to issue detainers and take custody of aliens who commit theft offenses. It also ensures that states can hold future administrations accountable for far-Left immigration enforcement and open-border policies.
- Passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on our nation’s 249th birthday. The legislation funds the construction of the border wall and allow border and immigration enforcement agencies from hiring thousands of additional personnel. It also revolutionizes our nation’s defense capabilities by securing the Golden Dome missile defense shield, modernizing air traffic control, and upgrading facilities to keep our homeland safe.
- Cosponsored and passed the HALT Fentanyl Act, which was signed into law by President Trump. This legislation places fentanyl-related substances as a class into schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. A Schedule I controlled substance is a drug, substance, or chemical that has a high potential for abuse; has no currently accepted medical value; and is subject to regulatory controls and administrative, civil, and criminal penalties under the Controlled Substances Act.
- Passed the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, to make illegal immigrants who admit to or are convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence inadmissible and deportable from the U.S.
- Passed the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, preventing illegal immigrants who flee border patrol from ever being admitted to the United States.
- Cosponsored the REMAIN in Mexico Act which would codify President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, officially known as the migrant protection protocols.
- Cosponsored the NO GOTION Act to prohibit companies associated with the Chinese Communist Party from qualifying for green energy production tax credits.
Securing a Future Built on Freedom
- Cosponsored and passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, protecting Title IX by clarifying that schools and postsecondary institutions that receive federal funding cannot permit biological males to participate in athletic programs or activities designated for women or girls. This was the first bill to pass the House under the jurisdiction of the Education and Workforce Committee, which I chair.
- Cosponsored and passed the DETERRENT Act to provide transparency and clarity to foreign gift reporting requirements for colleges and universities so that we can protect students from foreign adversaries like China, who are trying to expand their influence in US colleges and universities, spread propaganda, and steal research.
- Cosponsored the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to establish a federal statutory framework to regulate the carry or possession of concealed firearms across state lines. The legislation would prioritize the rights of law-abiding citizens to concealed carry and the ability to travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state codes or onerous civil suits.
- Cosponsored the Hearing Protection Act to remove burdensome federal regulations to purchase firearm suppressors that protect the hearing of hunters and recreation sport shooters.
- Cosponsored the SHORT Act to remove short-barreled rifles from the burdensome registration, regulation, and taxation requirements of the NFA.
- Sponsored the PROTECT Kids Act, requiring elementary and middle schools, as a condition of receiving federal funds, to obtain parental consent before (1) changing a minor child's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form; or (2) allowing a child to change the child's sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms.
Holding Washington Accountable
- Launched the Federal Program Inventory as required in the Taxpayer Right-to-Know Act, legislation I championed and was signed into law. The online inventory of each agency’s federal programs will help us to streamline duplicative programs and prevent wasteful spending on ineffective programs.
- Passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by President Trump on our nation’s 249th birthday. The legislation would eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within the federal government to save $1.5 trillion in mandatory spending.
- Passed the Rescissions Act, which was signed into law by President Trump and rescinds $9 billion in federal funding for wasteful foreign aid and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which allocates funding to NPR and PBS.
- Passed the Midnight Rules Relief Act to allow Congress to disapprove multiple regulations under one joint resolution if the regulations were submitted for review during a portion of the final year of a President’s term.
- Cosponsored the Balanced Budget Amendment Act, to create a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal government budget.
