Chairman Walberg on Democrats’ Shutdown Hurting Jobs Data

Today, Education and Workforce Committee Chairman Tim Walberg (R-MI) released the following statement on how the Democrat government shutdown is crippling jobs data:

“Over the course of this administration, President Trump’s pro-growth policies have consistently connected American workers with good jobs. Unfortunately, Democrats refused to work with Republicans and the Trump administration to help more Americans chase the American Dream. In fact, the Democrat-demanded shutdown is disrupting critical federal functions and directly undermining the release of timely jobs data. Without reliable reporting, businesses, workers, and policymakers are left in the dark—creating uncertainty in the labor market, slowing investment, and threatening economic stability. 

“Yet Democrats’ stonewalling doesn’t just impact job numbers. The threat of a prolonged government shutdown is creating uncertainty for every American worker and job creator.”
