Herald Palladium: 100 days in, Trump creating New Golden Age

As we mark the first one hundred days of President Trump’s return to office, it’s clear the president was ready to deliver on the mandate given to him by the American people. From day one, the Trump administration has taken decisive action to put Americans first by prioritizing national security, unleashing domestic energy production, reinvigorating economic growth, and restoring accountability and transparency in government.
As one of his first executive actions, President Trump declared a national emergency at the border and deployed the military to secure our nation. As a result, illegal border crossings have hit lows not seen in decades, with only 7,000 illegal immigrant encounters at the southern border in March, a 95 percent decrease from March 2024. Under his leadership, the Department of Homeland Security also announced that arrests of criminal illegal immigrants have doubled under President Trump.
House Republicans have reinforced these efforts to protect our communities through the passage of the Laken Riley Act, the first piece of legislation signed into law by President Trump during his second term. Named in honor of a Georgia college student tragically killed by an illegal immigrant, this legislation closes dangerous loopholes and holds future administrations accountable for open-border policies. By requiring illegal immigrants arrested or charged with theft or violence to be detained, we can prevent further tragedies from taking place.
In response to record-breaking energy costs during the Biden administration, President Trump also declared a National Energy Emergency, allowing us to unlock America’s full energy potential. Boosting U.S. LNG exports, removing barriers to infrastructure, and reigniting investment in an all-of-the-above energy approach have lowered energy prices for hardworking families across the county. Prices at the pump plummeted 6.3 percent during March, causing a decline in headline inflation.
House Republicans have furthered these efforts with legislation focused on expanding permits for energy development and rolling back overreaching Biden-era Green New Deal regulations. We will continue to pursue solutions that prioritize affordability and independence from foreign adversaries.
In March, President Trump signed an executive order to preserve the integrity of American elections by protecting against voter fraud and foreign influence.
House Republicans complemented the efforts of President Trump by passing the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require states to verify U.S. citizenship when registering an individual to vote in federal elections and provide states with the tools to remove non-citizens from their voter rolls. These efforts will prevent non-citizens from abusing our democratic process and restore trust in our election system.
Additionally, I was invited to the White House to witness President Trump take immediate executive action to end the unfair practice of allowing biological men to compete against women in sports, which resulted in the NCAA changing its rules.
The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which was ushered through the Education and Workforce Committee under my leadership and passed by the House, would codify this action and ensure that female athletes can compete safely and fairly.
The first hundred days of the Trump administration have been marked by bold action in defending the nation’s borders, reviving the economy, and restoring American values. I’ll continue to work with the administration to restore common sense and usher in the new Golden Age of America.
