Walberg Statement on President Trump’s State of the Union Address

February 4, 2020
Press Release

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) released the following statement in response to President Trump's 2020 State of the Union address:

“The American people have numerous reasons for optimism, and in tonight’s speech, President Trump made a strong and compelling case why. Our economy is hitting new heights with wages climbing, unemployment at a 50-year low, and more Americans employed than ever before. Thanks to USMCA and other newly renegotiated trade deals, farmers and blue collar workers can continue to benefit from even greater economic opportunities. President Trump also offered many common sense solutions to strengthen skills-based education, lower prescription drug prices, and make health care more affordable. During his time in office, President Trump has kept his promises and accomplished a great deal, but more work remains. I remain committed to working with all my colleagues to find common ground and improve the lives of the people we represent.”

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit
