Update on Partial Government Shutdown

I remain committed to working together to reach an agreement that would reopen the government, secure our southern border, and ensure the safety of our citizens. Rather than more obstruction, it is time for Speaker Pelosi to stop shortchanging border security and come to the table to negotiate. Until the partial shutdown is resolved, I’ve asked that my pay be withheld.

New Subcommittee Assignment for 116th Congress

In the 116th Congress, I will continue serving on the influential Energy and Commerce Committee. In this new term, I am also proud to be joining the Communications and Technology Subcommittee, which will give our district an even stronger voice on the issues that impact their daily lives. On this subcommittee, I look forward to advocating for solutions to improve our nation’s communications infrastructure and expand access to high-speed broadband.

Combating Medicaid Fraud and Protecting Patients

I'm pleased to kick off this new term by introducing bipartisan legislation to better identify Medicaid provider fraud and protect patients who are served by the program. The Medicaid Patient Abuse Prevention Act, which I introduced with Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT), broadens the authority of Medicaid Fraud Control Units (MFCUs) to identify, investigate, and prosecute possible patient abuse or neglect in non-institutional settings like home health care.

Improving Cybersecurity Infrastructure

In the digital age, protecting our nation’s electric infrastructure is more important than ever. Together with Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), a fellow member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, we introduced the Energy Emergency Leadership Act. Our legislation recognizes the importance of cybersecurity and modernizes the Department of Energy to more effectively respond to these 21st century realities.

2019 Constituent Priorities Survey

If you haven't already, please take a minute to fill out this survey and share what issues matter the most to you and your family. As we begin 2019, I value the opportunity to get feedback from constituents about the year ahead. Listening to the people’s priorities helps me serve you most effectively and bring your voice to Washington.
