Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

This week we introduced H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, to fix our broken tax code and provide meaningful relief for middle and low-income families. The goal is to strengthen America's economic competitiveness, create better jobs with bigger paychecks, and give a pay raise to the workers who need it most. Under this plan, the typical middle-class family of four will receive a $1,182 tax cut. You can read the bill at FairAndSimple.gop. You can also text TAX REFORM to 50589 to stay updated and see how our tax reform plan will benefit you and your family.

Thank you to everyone who came out for my recent coffee hours in Spring Arbor, Grand Ledge, and Monroe. I've held them in every county in the 7th District this year, and I look forward to continuing to hear from you as I travel the district.

Championing Healthy Kids Act

This week the House passed the Championing Healthy Kids Act, which extends funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), community health centers, and other important public health priorities. Thousands of low-income children and pregnant mothers rely on Michigan’s CHIP program, and many more families turn to a community health center in our state for their health care needs. Click here to watch my remarks on the House floor.

Jackson Veterans Resource Fair

On Monday, November 6, I will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair at the Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Representatives from the Community Action Agency, Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office, VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and Veterans Benefits Administration will be onsite to aid veterans and their families to learn more about available benefits and services. Veterans should also bring a copy of their DD214.

Drug Take Back Day

Tim Walberg Drug Take Back Day

I stopped by the Center for Family Health in Jackson last weekend for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Thank you to Jackson County Prosecutor Jerry Jarzynka, the Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, and local law enforcement for organizing this service and all your work fighting the opioid crisis in our community.
