Protecting Seniors from Scams

In the digital age, scams targeting seniors and their hard-earned money are growing in number and sophistication. Safeguarding vulnerable seniors needs to be a top priority. This week, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) and I introduced H.R. 2610, the Stop Senior Scams Act, which takes important steps to stop financial scammers from perpetrating fraud and taking advantage of our loved ones. 

Annual Job Fair in Jackson

Since coming to Congress, my top priority has been growing a healthy economy and creating greater opportunity for our citizens. We held our annual Job Fair in Jackson this week to assist the hardworking men and women in our communities find employment, further their education, or pursue career advancement opportunities. We had a great turnout and nearly 40 employers attended and had the opportunity to connect with job seekers in our community.

Breaking Ground at MCCC

It was exciting to help break ground on Monroe County Community College's new educational facility. I look forward to the completion of this project and the ways it will help to improve opportunities for students in our area.

Addressing PFAS Contamination

This week, Representatives Fred Upton, Debbie Dingell, Dan Kildee, and I introduced the PFAS Federal Facility Accountability Act of 2019. The bipartisan legislation requires federal agencies to cooperate with states as PFAS contamination is detected in communities near federal installations such as active military installations, former military installations, or National Guard facilities.

Washtenaw Veterans Fair

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell and I will be co-hosting a Veterans Fair at VFW Post 423 in Ann Arbor on Monday, May 13 to provide veterans information and access to organizations that can offer resources earned from their service to our country. Veterans employment specialists, Veterans Affairs counselors, and veterans service organizations will all participate. Click here for the event details.
