Recognizing Angels in Adoption

It was a privilege to recognize Larry and Sherry Majewski of Lambertville as the 2017 Angels in Adoption from Michigan's 7th District. Since 2000, the Majewskis have adopted eight children from China. Their family of eight daughters now includes Mya, 17, Maylin, 15, Ivy, 13, Katy, 12, Aneyah, 9, Fayth, 8, Brynn, 6, and Bailey, 3, who was adopted in April 2017. Their adoption journey is nothing short of remarkable and a shining example to us all.

Strengthening Skills-Based Education

I had the opportunity to tour the Center for Manufacturing Excellence, which recently opened its doors at Lansing Community College. It's a tremendous facility and resource for students to gain hands-on experience and skills. As a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, I will continue working to strengthen skills-based education and increase opportunities for students to obtain good-paying jobs.

Combating the Opioid Crisis

Tim Walberg Opioid Crisis

This week, I testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee as part of the committee’s bipartisan “Member Day” featuring representatives from across the country sharing local stories and highlighting legislative solutions to the opioid crisis. I highlighted my bipartisan bill, Jessie’s Law, and shared stories from recent constituent meetings in Monroe and Lenawee Counties. Click here to watch my testimony.

Expanding Affordable Health Care Options

America’s small businesses and the millions of workers they employ are in desperate need of more affordable health care options. Earlier this year, the House passed the my bipartisan bill, the Small Business Health Fairness Act, and this week, President Trump took action as well to help expand affordable health care options. Empowering small businesses to band together through association health plans will help them provide better health care coverage at a lower cost for their workers.

Honoring Veterans and Military Spouses

Thank you to all the organizations who organized and attended the recent Veteran Stand Down in Monroe to connect veterans with available resources. At the event, it was a privilege to participate in a Vietnam veteran pinning ceremony and honor military spouses for their sacrifice for our country.
