Small Business Health Fairness Act

This week I introduced the Small Business Health Fairness Act to empower small businesses to provide their employees greater access to quality, affordable health care. By allowing small businesses to band together through association health plans, we can lower health care costs for working families. It's another step in delivering the patient-centered health care solutions the American people deserve.

Supporting Michigan Community Colleges

As a member of the Education and the Workforce Committee, expanding quality educational opportunities for students is a top priority for me. This week I met with the leadership of Monroe County Community College, Jackson College, Lansing Community College, and Washtenaw Community College to discuss the important role community colleges play in preparing students for future careers.

Easing Paperwork Burdens, Lowering Energy Costs

I introduced a bipartisan bill with Rep. Debbie Dingell this week to help reduce unnecessary paperwork burdens and bring down energy prices for Michigan families. The cost of energy plays a big part in the family budget each month, and this bill will help free up energy producers to focus their resources on giving consumers access to affordable and reliable energy, instead of getting caught up in unnecessary and unintended red tape. 

Transparency Bill Passes Oversight Committee

My bipartisan legislation to provide greater transparency and help restore the integrity of the federal government's rulemaking process advanced through the Oversight and Government Reform Committee this week. The Regulatory Integrity Act requires agencies to post, in a central location, all communications they issue during the proposed rule stage so that the public can fully participate and trust that the rulemaking process is neutral and unbiased.
