Drug Take Back Day
Drug Take Back Day
Saturday, April 28 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. It marks an important opportunity to raise awareness and encourage the proper disposal of old prescription drugs so they don’t end up in the wrong hands. I’m grateful for the law enforcement agencies, substance abuse coalitions, and health care organizations that are hosting drop off locations. No effort is too small, and each of us can make a difference. Click here for a list of collection sites across the 7th District.
Preserving the Great Lakes
During an Environment Subcommittee hearing this week, I pressed EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt about the Administration’s FY19 budget proposal that requested an inadequate level of funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. I also questioned him on his actions to combat harmful algal blooms on Lake Erie and stop invasive species like Asian Carp. Click here to watch my questions.
Welcoming Honor Flight Veterans
I had the privilege of welcoming WWII and Korean War veterans from Michigan to our nation’s capital. A special thank you to the Talons Out Honor Flight for their incredible work helping veterans see the memorials built in their honor.
Helping Michigan Seniors
We organized a successful Senior Resource Fair this week at the Bedford Senior Center. Thank you to all the community organizations who were on hand and to my constituent relations team who provides assistance with Medicare and Social Security.
Honoring a Hero
My office was able to help Kenneth Moore of Adrian obtain his Korea Defense Service Medal, and this week I had the honor of presenting it to him during a ceremony at the Lenawee County Veterans Affairs office. Our nation is forever grateful for his sacrifice. Click here to read more about his story.
