Child Abuse Prevention Month

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and I joined with the Child Advocacy Network of Monroe County this week to highlight and support prevention and awareness of child abuse. Throughout the month, they are planting Pinwheel for Prevention gardens across the county to call attention to this issue as we work together to make our communities a better place for children and families.

Coffee Hours Across the District

I held coffee hours in Dundee, Palmrya, and Tecumseh to discuss the benefits of the new tax cut law, answer questions, and listen to what issues are on people's minds. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and I look forward to continuing to hear from you as I travel to every corner of the district.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before the Energy and Commerce Committee this week. I had the opportunity to ask him about concerns regarding data privacy and content bias. Click here to watch my questions.

Increasing Energy Security

During an Energy and Commerce Committee hearing, I questioned Secretary Rick Perry about a number of energy security issues. In particular, I was pleased to hear his support for my bipartisan legislation to to enhance the Department of Energy’s ability to address cybersecurity threats. Click here to watch my questions.

Recognizing Eaton Sheriff Deputy Jenkins

I spoke on the House floor this week to recognize Deputy Andrew Jenkins of the Eaton County Sheriff's Office for being awarded the Congressional Badge of Bravery. Deputy Jenkins is receiving the award for his heroism when rescuing three people from a fire in Delta Township.
