New Investment in Dundee Engine Plant

Earlier this week, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced a $4.5 billion investment in five of its Michigan manufacturing plants. In the 7th District, I am pleased to see FCA’s $119 million investment in the Dundee Engine Plant, which will continue to support good-paying jobs and boost our local economy. Making additional investments in the Dundee Engine Plant is a testament to plant’s productivity and high-quality workers.

Protecting the Great Lakes

In advance of Great Lakes Week, Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH) and I have reintroduced a bipartisan bill to strengthen efforts to protect the Great Lakes ecosystem. H.R. 1440, Great Lakes Restoration Semipostal Stamp Act, would create a special postage stamp designed to raise money to support the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. Click here to read more about this legislation.

Enhancing Retirement Security

Putting away enough money for retirement is a major concern for Michigan families. I joined with Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) this week to introduce H.R. 1439, the Increasing Access to a Secure Retirement Act. Our bipartisan legislation will make it easier for employers to offer broader savings options for their employees, taking an important step in removing barriers for Americans as they work to achieve a financially secure retirement.

Recognizing Sheriff Welsh’s Retirement

After more than 40 years of service to Lenawee County, it was a privilege to recognize Sheriff Jack Welsh's retirement on the House Floor. Law enforcement officers like Sheriff Welsh are the fabric of our communities. I thank Sheriff Welsh for his decades of distinguished service, and I wish him nothing but the best as he begins his retirement.

It was great to be in Somerset Township this week to visit with constituents for coffee hour. We covered a variety of important topics, including career and technical education, lowering health care costs, and this week's votes on the Second Amendment.
