The American Health Care Act
After a markup lasting more than 27 consecutive hours, the Energy and Commerce Committee advanced the American Health Care Act this week. The bill was debated live on C-SPAN in an open and transparent way. You can read the bill online at ReadTheBill.gop. In total, the bill will be considered by four separate committees before it heads to the House floor. This is just the first of many steps the House will be taking to expand access to affordable, high quality health care for all Americans.

Small Business Health Fairness Act
The Education and the Workforce Committee also held a markup this week to consider legislative proposals to improve health care coverage and lower costs for working families. One of the main bills that the Committee passed was the Small Business Health Fairness Act, which is my bill that will empower small businesses to provide employees better health care at lower costs. Combating the Heroin Epidemic
This week I joined with Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand and Mike Hirst from Andy's Angels to speak with inmates at the Jackson County Jail and visit the Jackson Recovery Resource Center. The opioid and heroin epidemic continues to affect families across Michigan, and working together, we can raise awareness and support those on the path to recovery. Click here to learn more.
